Don’t Let Past Failures Create Doubt

rocks

When we are about to take on new adventures, or re-starting old initiatives again, we can often find ourselves questioning our abilities to see this through. If we have tried in the past, and failed, we find ourselves expecting or predicting that this same pattern could happen once more. However, there may be a more productive way to look at our past failures.

We all know the principle that we learn from our failures, however, our negative self-talk and the doubt that creeps into our minds about others letting us down, circumstances working against us, or a lack of ability or tenacity within ourselves, can often undermine our confidence to build our future.

But we are not the same person anymore – we have built on our previous selves, gained insight into our faults and strengths, and we can use them with success now. Our failures and mistakes are now the foundation that help us to make strong and confidence steps forward.

So, let’s start again.

Are You Happy Today?

Many of us feel that the opportunities and potential of our days are dictated by our mood or motivation. A question in response to this attitude – can you make yourself 10% happier today?
How?
Close your eyes and visualise yourself 10% happier than you are right now. You may feel the weight of resistance in your conscious mind, ready with a list of why you shouldn’t feel happy. Attempt to skip through that momentarily. Picture yourself as that happier version of yourself. What would you do? What sensations would you feel? How would your posture, your interactions, your level of excitement and productivity change?
Now a final question – if you can imagine yourself 10% happier, can you manifest it in your reality now? You could even push it to 20% or 50% happier. Ultimately, the power to improve our mood, attitude and resulting behaviour is within us.
